Not real farmin', but pretty close.

And some days, all we do is eat!

My boy is always hungry!! Either that, or he has already figured out that giving me the sign for "hungry" gets him immediate attention. Regardless, we are always stuffing our faces.

Waiter! Can I get another fork over here? I seemed to have thrown 4 of mine on the floor already.

In and Out

And I'm not talkin' burgers, here.

Liam's new thing is going in and out of the house, from the dining room to the deck. He loves to slide the screen door open and closed. He loves to step down and step up. He loves to let the cat escape!!

I saw a fat blur in our backyard this evening while I was cooking dinner and ran out there. It was our fat cat, the love of Liam's life. He was clearly testing the theory, "If you love something, set it free."

Problem is, our girl is dumb, spelled "D-U-M" so I fear that a tough chipmunk might rough her up and that will be the end of Liam's BFF.

Make way for ducklings.

It was beyond hot on Sunday so Liam and I fled to the play space at the Natick mall. As Mama didn't realize that the stores in the mall didn't open until noon, at 10:30 we had the whole place pretty much to ourselves!!!

Liam builds a better mouse trap

Liam was pushing around an empty laundry basket when he fell forward onto his hands and knees, flipping the basket up over himself. The poor kid was in total shock, staring out from under his little cage, while I literally in pain from laughing so hard!!

The Boston Children's Zoo

Well, that's what they should rename it! Liam and I went to the Children's Museum today and it was pandemonium! I'm not even sure that is a strong enough word to describe the chaos that pulsed and throbbed throughout every inch of that building. Here we are in a room where 50 kids were encouraged to roll and throw golf balls. DOES THAT SOUND SAFE???

I was a sweaty, nervous wreck chasing him from room to room and trying not to loose him in the melee but Liam clearly thrives on this type of energy. In his usual fashion, he ran up to different families and groups of kids and just dove into the fun (or their lunch!).

We only saw about a third of the exhibits so we'll be going the Fall when hopefully half a million of those kids are back in school! It was a lot of fun to see him enjoy himself so much.

One baby gate down, two to go!

We took away one of the gates today. Man, does it feel weird to walk down my hallway without having to step on a lever and shimmy sideways! Our boy is growing up.

Of course, this gate also served to lock up the cat when she was being a nuisance. We may find ourselves reinstalling a "cat gate".

The Museum of Science

Liam and I had a grand adventure into Boston today. We went to the Museum of Science and it was a blast! Liam was such a good boy. He really enjoyed running around the Discovery Center which is an area just for preschool age children.

His second favorite activity was the computer learning center. He was able to smash a keyboard and run around with a mouse. (Two things he is explicitly NOT allowed to do at home.)

There were lots of stuffed animals to look at. Mama didn't take the best picture, but here we are next to the giant kitty.

Then Liam got to kiss a bear.

We enjoyed a picnic lunch and some people watching and headed home.

I foresee many more museum trips in our future. I did promise Liam while he was still in my tummy that I would take him to the Harvard Museum of Natural History. Maybe that will be our next adventure! Anyone want to come along?

Thank goodness for great friends!

It was another insanely hot day in the 'Boroughs and Mama and Monkey thought that they might melt! Enter Julia and her invitation to the Shrewsbury pool! What a relief it was to jump into that cool water. Alas, Liam was having more fun running around the outside of the pool and grabbing at other people's sunglasses and Gatorade bottles. Mama could not catch a break. Still, 20 minutes of refreshment is better than nothing. And it was very satisfying to note that he was the cutest and sharpest dressed baby at the pool.

Here, Will is generously sharing a toy boat.

Liam immediately threw it on the ground and went after my water bottle.

TRAINS!!! (edited: now with extra excitement and video!)

Mama made a big score at a yard sale this morning, bringing home 40 Thomas trains and loads of track. A napping baby is unaware of the delight that awaits him. Photos to follow!!

I was never so excited for Liam to wake up from a nap. He was beyond excited when he saw the pile of toys. Plus, Daddy found a Thomas movie on Netflix so he was able to see, hear and touch Thomas trains. Mama got a little too into building a track and was pretty annoyed when Liam decided that destruction is more fun than construction. One of these days I will learn.

Liam has begun to show a fascination for mimicking whatever Mama does around the house. He likes to wipe his high chair tray and tries to sweep the floor, although with limited success. He is also determined to steal my coffee mug right from my hands so he can drink it, too. Imitation may be the sincerest form of flattery, but keep away from my coffee, Bub!

A hair cut and a lollipop

Thanks to a Thomas movie and a red lollipop, haircut #2 was pretty painless.
