Trash Truck number 52.

We all have our weaknesses.   Bubs is trash trucks and mine is buying him trash trucks.

Ice Cream and the Spinosaurus Hair Cut

Roar if you like ice cream!

Day 2 of Preschool: Mama was happy and Bub was sad

This day already feels like it's been 10 hours long instead of just 3.  We had a whiny, cranky pants monster who took issue with everything, solicited scoldings and a time out by 8 AM.  Then he fell head long down the stairs when we were trying to get into the garage to leave.  Follow this with a clinger situation at drop off. . . .

AWESOME SAUCE!!!!!

Mama was very relieved to watch preschool disappear in her rear view mirror today!!

Now for a relaxing day of laundry and grocery shopping.  It's better than screaming at a 3 year old.  (Sorry, Bub, Mama loves you but I need a time out today.  WICKED BAD!)

Sniffle!! First Day of Preschool

I'm so very sad and I can't stop thinking about "what is he doing now?"  But that kid sure looked like he was happy to be at school!

The Drop Off (Daddy came with us!)

Let's go! Let's GO!!

His little cubby.  So grown up!!

Mama, let go!

I want him to stay little forever!!

. . . and now he's taking a nap in the Big Boy Bed!

Bub is growing up way to frickin' fast these days!  He wanted to take his nap in the Big Boy Bed we have in the playroom.  No more little crib!  He looks so grown up in that big bed and so tiny all at once.

*HEART BREAKING*

My Baby Starts Preschool Tomorrow and I'm Freaking Out!!

I'm one nervous Mama today.  I'll be sewing labels into things, packing the spare lovie and giving extra kisses today because Bub is enlisting going to preschool tomorrow morning.  I know that he'll have a wonderful time and that he's ready, but I'm not going to sleep well tonight!

Here's Bub with the new dinosaur I bought him out of a mixture of guilt and nostalgia.  (It's the red one, I bought him the green one a while ago to shut him up at Target.)

Potty is the new "last book ".

Knowing full well what a big deal I make over any bit of pee or poop that goes into the potty,  the Cheeky Monkey has figured out a fool proof way to stall bedtime by another 10 minutes.

To be fair,  the boy is doing so well and is staying dry almost all of the time.   I credit our success with manic enthusiasm,  stickers and the promise of his own Nook which he has fortunately forgotten about.

Dinosaur Museum

On a hot, hot day we explored the Museum of Science: the Dinosaur Museum.

"There's an Allosaurus, Mama!"  (He's right.)

"Triceratops!"

 "T-Rex!!

"Why's the T-Rex so big, Mama?"

"Can we go play with trains?"  This means, can we go to the gift shop and will I buy him a toy train.  Answer: Of course!

Bub was also thrilled by our muffin lunch and watching the Green Line rumble past the museum.

 He's a pretty cheap date.

The Fellas turn 3!!

The Bub and I have been blessed to know a little play group for 3 years!  It has grown from the original four boys (born May, June and July of 2009) to include three more kiddos!  That's 7 cuties who got together in this sweltering heat to party and play.

Happy Birthday Stephen, Nicholas and Bobby!!  "3" is going to be awesome!

Here they are last year, rocking out the big 2. The Fellas, age 2

To my Mama Friends: it was so wonderful to see you even if I didn't get to talk to you over the craziness of kiddie pools, snacks, cake and presents.  I feel to lucky to call such a lovely group of ladies my friends!  A MNO is definitely in order!!

When I asked Bub at bedtime what he did today, he crowed "CAKE!"  We have our priorities in this house and sugar is clearly paramount.

Going Paperless

We were reading a book in which Huckle Cat wanted to send Grandma Cat a letter.  Liam looked at the envelope and said,

" Look!! Email! "

Bub seen here with two new rescue cats.

Summer Solstice

After dinner, Liam and I danced under the sprinkler in the waning solstice sun.
The combination of the heat and the wicked "flogging by questions" I received definitely made it feel like the longest day of the year.

It's going to be an interesting summer!

Photographic Evidence

I have a few minutes so I thought I would post some pictures from yesterday's jaunt.  Enjoy!

The Friendship  (I am not kidding.)

Walking back from our sneak peak of the House of Seven Gables.  There was no way Liam was going to tolerate a tour worth the price of admission (considering I would have had to confiscated his treat).  Here he is seen with the enormous lollipop I had been promising him all day.
"Like a kid in a candy shop" makes SO much sense to me now!

Really, no words are necessary.

Beach playground in Marblehead.  Pretty awesome!

Bub's first kite.

Oh, Dear Daddy!

Happy Father's Day,  Bab!  You are amazing and we recognize how lucky we are to have you in our lives.

We spent the day strolling around Salem and ended up in Marblehead at the second greatest beach playground in the country.  (The first being in Del Mar.)

Happy Father's Day to all the other kind,  gentle,  loving,  funny Dads out there who take it all on the chin and keep coming back for more.

The kitchen is closed!

GRRULLCHIZMUHMUH!  GRRULLCHIZMUHMUH!

GRRULLCHIZMUHMUH!

I'm not even acknowledging this.

MOMMY!  I WANT GRILLED CHEESE!

Oh,  OK.  Hang on,  Bub.

*makes grilled cheese *

Mama!  You be Liam and I'll be Mama and I'll make you grilled cheese in my kitchen!  I'll be right back!

*runs out of kitchen without having eaten a damn thing *

What???

Sweet CAROLINE!!

I can't even take a bath without dinosaurs laying in wait,  guarding the bubble bath!

It's tricky to rock a rhyme!

Rainy days tend to foster a little insanity creativity.  Here's Liam getting tricky.

And here's Kitty wishing she were any place else!

This is so wrong.

We all love her,  but,  Jeez Kitty!!  You're gonna break Mama's couch!

Best Friends

Bub and I were kickin' it at the mall today.  A little Starbucks, a spin around the carousel, a few rides and then we tried the photo booth.

While we were waiting for the photo to print, they played a video of the two of us during and between these four instances.  I would have paid $10 for that!

How to make a volcano in a bottle (with the help of a 3 year old)

Bub and I got all "Mr. Wizard" and built a volcano in a Pelligrino bottle.  That's right.  It has to be a pretentious, glass mineral water bottle to detract from the fact that I was in my pajamas - in my driveway - in the middle of the afternoon.

Ingredients:

Aforementioned Pelligrino bottle
baking soda
vinegar
food coloring

Our "outdoor cat", Binks, who joined us for the experiment.

Bub being a dinosaur running away from the lava.

Video records of this historic experiment were lost in a tragic computer crash.  Damn you, HP!!

Our Nest

Thank you, Fellas, for a wonderful birthday!

Liam and I made a volcano in a bottle (yes, I did film it and will post video later) and Chris brought home dinner and flowers and an amazing cake!

Sometimes Dinner Is Funny.

Bub tried edamame tonight and,  by Jove,  I think he likes it!

He really,  really liked popping the "peas " out of the pod, the "Mame", (all of over the kitchen)  but while he was doing that,  I stuffed 15 into his mouth.   Then he decided that they were dinosaurs eggs and that he couldn't eat the babies.  Of course not.

He was enjoying himself and making me laugh.  I'm glad I found one vegetable that he's interested in.

Red Bones and Riding the Rails

My Fellas and I enjoyed riding the red line back and forth from Alewife to Harvard before tucking into some awesome BBQ for dinner and tripping around Davis Square.

Liam shocked me that he prefers chasing pigeons to eating an ice cream cone!

Camouflage

Is it possible that I unwittingly bought a rug that perfectly camouflages sharp,  pointy dinosaurs?
