Ready for Halloween

Punky Pumpkin and Bub and I are ready for Halloween!
We were busting with excitement to go out Trick or Treating -- our first time!
Liam was a big hit in his dinosaur costume.  He performed his biggest roar on request.  The Bean was dressed as The Hungry Caterpillar.

It was hilarious that it only took a couple houses of people offering that he could take two pieces of candy before he started to assume it as his holiday-given right.  Most people happily obliged our little candy grubber.

After 6 blocks of racing up walkways and front steps, Bub was all tuckered out and requested that he be carried.  He got to pick 3 pieces of candy to eat once we got home.  He chose all "gummy" types and could not be persuaded by Mama to go for a chocolate candy bar.
Mama got her Candy Tax -- the lone Kit Kat bar.

Swim Lessons

Here's Bub, not listening to his swim coach and swimming all over the place.   Not seen here, Bub smacking the water, saying he's frustrated, or Bub climbing out to run over to see me.

Hard partying toddlers celebrate Halloween

Bub woke up at 4 am asking.  'Is the party today?'  Yes, Bub, in 6 hours!

We had 6 toddlers and their parents over for costumes, candy and cake this morning. Bub had so much fun! He was a dinosaur and we had a pumpkin, a kitty, Olivia the pig,  Captain America and a ladybug as guests.

There was no way we were going to get him to nap after all the fun of the party but at 6 pm he's already crashed.  I'm going to have to wake him at some point for dinner, but he looks so peaceful.

Here's a shot of Bub passed out in his chair after a great day of playing with friends and eating all things sugar.

Did he poop us out??

Overheard:

Chris is reading Bub a book about prehistoric times.  I think they are talking about evolution and I hear Chris explain that we all came from an ancient mammal. (Sorry, Creationists, it's true.)  And Bub asks,

Did he poop us out???

Hahahahaha!  You don't really need to hear Chris's explaination, do you?

Latest Euphemism

Grandma Cookie gets the prize for the nicest way to describe Bubs personality these days:

Spirited. He sure is spirited.

Is there Boarding Preschool?

Because Bub is being a terror and I feel like a long distance relationship might be best.  "Three" continues to be infinitely "challenging".

Mama, this shopping cart tastes GOOD!

Perhaps I've stumbled upon the reason we seem to be mired in illness: taste testing the Target shopping carts.

That was a surprise!

The Bean just delivered a GIANT kick and I almost threw my book off my lap!  If this is normal activity for 15 weeks, what am I in for?

This is my house

on '' Toddler ''  setting.   Why the hell would I clean when he can do THIS in one day?

And I had very good reason to choose the photo filter 'Exorcist'.

The Bean's First Kick!

It just took my breath away!  Not because it was so big, but because it was so clearly a jab from my little person.  I've only felt squiggles thus far so this got my attention.  Pretty soon they'll be poking at each other, one from the outside and the other from the inside.  I can't wait!

Daddy's Birthday and Baby Stuff

Today is Chris's birthday and while none of us, least of all Chris, were feeling on the top of our game we still had a nice celebration to mark the day.  We all gathered around the cake and blueberry pie and as we were putting in the candles, Chris and I discussed that maybe since he's sick he shouldn't blow out the candles.  Well, that was a waste of breath!  Bub leaned right in after the song and blew them all out!  He then proceeded to devour his slice, asked to share mine and licked the server clean.  With no more frosting to dispatch, he shouted, "BEST BIRTHDAY EVER!" and held up his creamy paw for a high five.

After a lot of bouncing around and a dunk in the tub, we were trying to wind down in Bub's room.  We were talking about how my belly was going to get very big to give the baby room to grow and that when baby is all grown,  it will come out and be born.

"Does the baby come out of your mouth?"

It was so precious.   (I didn't let him think the baby comes out of my mouth but I didn't really elaborate, either.)

The Bean at 14 weeks

I heard the baby's heartbeat for the first time this morning!  My little tenant was very cooperative and the midwife was immediately able to find him.  Yup, we've got another person convinced that we have a little man in there!  The heartbeat was 135 which corroborates the "Angle of the Dangle" theory as observed in our last ultrasound.

My next appointment is on November 16th and that's for the full anatomy scan which, if baby continues to be a cooperative little nugget, should tell us about, er, the anatomy in question.

Sleep Deprivation Experiment 1258: The Big Boy Bed

Bub is awake at 10pm so I decide to offer that instead of sitting in the rocking chair all night that he might sleep in his Big Boy Bed (BBB).  BBB is really just the twin mattress on the floor because we have all been too sick to bring up the frame.  I'm hoping the thrill is just enough incentive for him to stay in bed and not so exciting that it keeps him awake.

Current status of experiment: FAIL.  Bub is singing to Kitty and I just heard little footprints hit the hardwood.  That "pitter-patter of little feet" everyone talks about is one of the scariest sounds to a sleepy parent.

UPDATE:

10:05

Bub just scampered into my room to tell me "It's so MUCH FUN to be AWAKE!"

Poor Little Bub

Bub has been so sick.  He had a cold that turned to an ear infection that turned into croup that turned into walking pneumonia.  We are into the third week of his illness.  It's so sad to see our energetic little man be too tired to play or to have to tell him that he can't bounce around so much on the chance that he's feeling well.

Through all of the interrupted sleep, coughing fits, crying and tantrums Kitty has been the best little nurse.  She has taken to sleeping in his room all night.  She's there right now, watching over Bub.

Cheeky Monkey is proud to introduce '' The Bean''!

Bub is going to be a big brother.   The Littlest Wrona is due on April 13th, right in time for our 5 year wedding anniversary.

Not a bad five year plan!

It seems like we may never be well!

Liam had a cold for a week that turned into a mystery virus which morphed into an ear infection and croup.

Joy!

He's mostly been in good spirits but he's barely dragging around today. Poor Bub.

Cutest Human

Bub and I visited Starbucks over the weekend as reward to us both for the swift purchase of a mattress with zero tears by any involved party.

While slurping the whipped cream from his hot chocolate, Bub received the compliment that he is the cutest human.  So, we've got that going for us now.  I think it will look great on his C.V.
