I had a dream about brownies so we're making brownies! Bub is digging into the batter bowl up to his elbows.

My appointment today included a non stress test to monitor the baby's heart rate and to see if there are any contractions going on. Little Boy is sounding good although he was being very sleepy at first. And for all the contractions I've had recently, I had not a one this afternoon. My blood pressure is up but they aren't worried yet.
Chris took me out to lunch afterwards. I'm hoping it will be our last date without a newborn!

Bub (who is starting to balk at being called Bub, BTW) is obsessed with a new game. It's called "Joanna and Big Meanie" and is based on reenacting scenes from the movie "The Rescuers : Down Under".
Bub is a small toy crocodile who represents a lizard named Joanna and I use an Imaginext fire fighter to represent a poacher we've dubbed Big Meanie.
It's a glorious respite from playing dinosaurs but it's also fairly exhausting. I all too cleverly invented a growly voice and the duo needs to constantly concoct naughty adventures. Also, I can't decide if I'm successfully teaching by reverse example or if I'm giving Bub fodder for new ways to be naughty that include trapping animals for their pelts.

Bub is pretty easy to dress, if you can catch him. He rarely has an opinion, preference or problem with the clothes that I pick out for him. I avoid things with tight necklines or zippers because he has always been sensitive to those things. Aside from that, his only input has been that his favorite color is blue. OK, Bub, I'll get you mostly blue clothes.
Today was an exception. After he woke up from his nap (which I thank the baby Gods that he still takes) he appeared from his room in pajama bottoms and no underwear.
Mama: Bub, can I help you put some pants on?
Bub: NOO! I want to wear these pants.
M: Those are pajama pants. Didn't you want to go to the store? (We had planned to go to Toys R Us to pick out a special rewards for his success in night potty training.) And you need underpants.
B: I want to wear these! And the Kronoaurus skeleton shirt.
M: Fine. (This is my pregnant response to any strongly voiced opinion.)
Off we went, in pajama bottoms and Kronosaurus skeleton shirt. Bub decided that he liked a group of Mama and Baby dinosaurs and somehow ended up with 8 toys instead of 1, but, well, see the above mentioned response to all things. Plus, I rationalized that it was savvy parenting to encourage his love of all things Baby.

This afternoon, after an intense day and an hour of playing some serious Dinosaur Footprint, I told Bub that I needed a break. I collapsed on the couch and got ready to turn on some TV for him. Bub went and grabbed the toy farm house and all the baby dinos.
MAMA! WANNA PLAY LAND BEFORE TIME?
No, Bub, I can't play with you.
Tears! Huge, fat tears just dripped down his little face. I think his heart broke only two seconds before mine did. Chris was home to scoop him into a big hug but he looked down at me like I'd committed the worst Mama crime. I have rarely felt so awful in my life as I did in those moments watching my little guy cry.
I, of course, relented and picked up the baby brachiosaurus and started to play. Chris gave me the look like, "That sure taught him that crying gets him what he wants." But it just couldn't be helped. A Mama's resolve is only so strong.

Liam has a family of toy kitties that he's currently obsessed with. Mama kitty is called "Flower" and her three babies keep getting new names. Last night, he introduced me to the little brown one who had previously been "Cinnamon Stick".
"This is 'Nuts' because she makes her Mama nuts "
Hmmm, I have no idea where he would have come up with that one!
