My favorite test

The pregnancy test!

One year ago today we found out that we were expecting our little Cubby. What a joyous day!

I love my family, through thick and thin, crazy happy and plain old crazy, beginning, middle and to the very end.

De Cordova Museum with my Cubster

Cubby and I checked out some contemporary art in Lincoln. He enjoyed this one exhibit, a leather sofa where I nursed him twice, the most. My favorite was an amazing piece where the image was made out of price stickers!

We had a fun lunch with my dear friend and her two little ones.

First word and first tears

Cubby is definitely saying MAMA.  Sadly, it is in the context of him crying for me. But it is still so precious!

He had some real tears yesterday when he was stuck in his car seat coming home from the park.  Liam vrry helpfully announces, "HE NEEDS MILK! HE NEEDS A DIAPER CHANGE!"

Yes, thank you my sweet, two screaming children have made Mommy feel infinity more sane.  The crazy eyes on the T Rex are about where I'm at by dinner time each night.

TV, best babysitter money can buy!

Chris is working and it's still hot (and someone is still being a pest) so lots of TV watching is the agenda this weekend.

Here's Cubby, figuring out that Pixar is more entertaining than his mother.

Watch "Cubby loves TV already. Uh oh!" on YouTube

Ten little toes

Sleeping, sweet and snugly. Sigh.

This makes up for a lot.

First giggles for Mama

Chris got Cubby to laugh the other day with some funny noises.  But today I got my first laugh flying Cubby on my legs like an airplane.

Ahhh, the sweetest sound!

We were doing the bedtime routine tonight and Bub asked for me to come into his room and turn on a light.

Bub, can't you reach the light switch?

I can, but. . . .

Are you nervous because of the dark?

Well, the eye pets are in here.

I was hearing "iPets" and thought this was something that Apple had created, like an iPad.  But he meant there were EYES!

The eye pets are under Jacob's bed.  Sometimes I see one eye or if they move really fast then I can see two eyes!

Poor little imp.  I assured him there was nothing creepy living anywhere in his room but I don't think he was convinced.

Necessity is the Mother of Invention

We watched Madagascar on the laptop in Mama's room tonight to be where it's cool. The novelty alone bought me good behavior and the promise of a "fierce dinosaur" screening got Liam to go to bed!

Sweet Dreams

Cyn, how was your visit to the Mystic Aquarium?

And that will be the last Cheeky Monkey blog entry for a while as I give up on family adventures with a petulant 4 year old.  You can follow my *new* blog "Totally Insane: Parenting/hanging on by a thread!"

Being held captive by a tiny bully.

Long weekend adventures

It seemed like a VERY LOOOOOOOOOOOOONG holiday weekend to me, with no camp and no central air at home.  We had 5 days and 5 adventures and 5 nights of Mommy needing a restorative glass of wine!

We went up to Marblehead to the beach but I was too miserably hot to take any pictures.  We were much happier at the indoor playground at the mall.  Isn't Chris hilarious!?  Though, we were that tired.

We went to eat after this and all was nearly lost when the kitchen forgot to make Liam's dinner.  WHAT!?  It's a good thing squishy dinosaurs like edema me and lettuce wraps.

Here are Chris and Cubby at the Museum of Science.

Liam is just enamored with Jacob and the feeling is more than mutual.  He's always announcing to everyone, "I have a baby!  I have a Jacob!"  It's so, so cute.  And he can't get enough of holding him and petting him.

The other night, I had both of them in my bed because Liam had a nightmare....or so he says.  I know that he's very jealous that Cubby gets to sleep with me so I let him crawl in for a while.  I started feeding the baby and I feel this little arm reach across me to start playing with Cubby's hands.

OK, Bub!  Back to bed!

Here's the boys at the mall where we spend most of last week as it was too hot to stay home.

The Lost Ice Cream

Moments later, Bub's sundae ended up on the floor. Naturally, Cubby started crying simultaneously and I'm left to juggle the two sad boys with a rapt audience of 15 fro yo patrons.

Yes, I'd like some AWESOME SAUCE on my replacement sundae please.

Special day

We went to the Ecotarium and to lunch with Grandma Cookie today. Both kids were excellent!

Liam got some new dino friends for being an amazing big brother and also for his great work at school.

Today he taught the kids a dinosaur class. Afterwards, a little boy was crying, missing his mom, and Liam went and gave him a high five so he would feel better.

I am so proud to have such a kind little guy who recognized that boys pain.

Nearly 3 months old

Now that we're out of the dreaded 4th trimester, he's going to stop crying so much, right???!!!

A Secret Beach Day

Three of us went to Singing Beach over the weekend.  Shhhhh!

Nap buddies

Sleep talking

Bub's teacher said he was talking in his sleep during nap time. The quote

Don't you dare!... That's MY popcorn!

Recipe for bed sharing with an infant

Get a king-size bed

Place baby in the middle

Say goodbye to your husband for several months

Wrap yourself uncomfortably around baby on alternating sides

Switch every two hours

Suffer back, shoulder and neck pain from being a living teddy bear

..... But just look at him. There has never been a cuter reason to suffer discomfort.

Hiding out at the mall

Cubby and I spent the better part of the day at the mall, hiding from the gross weather. He was such a good helper, letting me browse endless clearance racks.

Then, he helped me and Liam make a dinosaur poster and accompanied us all out to dinner.

Now, he's passed out in bed beside me. I can hardly begrudge him the snuggles! He's a hard working baby.
