Happy Thanksgiving 2013

It's a family tradition to be sick for the holidays. Bub and Cubby are sharing a cold and had to miss out on the family party. The cat took excellent care of them.

We have a great deal to be thankful for this year.  If life seems to hectic or difficult sometimes, it's only because we are blessed with two healthy, happy boys who have gigantic personalities.  They fill our lives with love and laughter.  We are lucky to be this crazy.

Dashing through the holidays

We might be rushing the season a touch.....

But Bub saw Santa and insisted on talking to him. He was thrilled to find out he's on the "Nice" list and kept asking me,

Mama, were you surprised I'm on the Nice list?

We have a crawler!

We've had lunging and scooting and pivoting for a week or so.  But today, there is no denying that this boy can crawl.  He is 7 1/2 months old and there is no stopping him!

He's also saying "Da! Da! Da!"  Whether or not he's talking about Chris is unclear.  But he's really got something to say.

A Special Day with Bub

Bub took the day off from school and we got a sitter for Cubby.  We had a date to go to the Natural History Museum!

Here are Bub's favorite parts:

And here are Mama's favorite parts:

pinecone creatures!

 SPARKLES!!!!

Bub took my picture in front of a giant sloth

Speed Napping

You know how there's speed dating?  Well, Cubby and I play the game, Speed Napping.  He tries to take the shortest nap he can and I race to get anything done during those 20 minutes or less.

Times up!

It's hard not to take this shit personally.

And I mean that literally. Cubby has a blow out EVERY TIME and take him out for errands. Regardless of the time of day, that kid is messing up his pants whenever it is last convenient to change him.

In other news, he's getting himself into the strangest places. Here he is after wiggling under my bed.

Not as MUCH!

I have been thinking lately, ya know, I haven't gotten pee'd on in a while! I guess we're past that. Huh!

Uh, I got pee'd on this morning.

And there is a lot less spit up in my life. Like, I MIGHT wear a shirt the while day. Not as MUCH spit up.  That's still more than the non Mom would want in her life.

I celebrate the small victories. It helps break up the sense of crushing failure that accompanies many parenting attempts these days.

Here's my little Mr. Pooper. He doesn't want to poop at home. He's a "social pooper"! He likes to see the terror on my face as I freak out looking for a somewhat sanitary flat surface to get baby poop all over.

Happy Friday!

Sitting up and pulling up!

Oh, we're in big trouble. Cubby can sit up and stand up by himself. Running is slated for next week.

Fun day with Cubby

Cubby and I had a fun day.  We played with a whole bunch of toys at a store, he helped me scour the clearance racks at Baby Gap, we had a lovely lunch and played with more toys.

Here he is being a sweetheart and sleeping while I had my salad.

I'm 7 months old!

I love to tell stories, chew on my shoes, and listen to music. I can pull up to standing and I've started scooting backwards.

Here are some pictures from our special trip to the DeCordova.  What a beautiful day and what a beautiful baby boy.
