Sniffly baby who didn't nap went down just as Bub's bus was due home. This gave me the rare chance to play outside with the big boy without chasing a toddler. He was so happy to play with just me, it tore up my heart. I couldn't have been happier, myself, to find a birds nest, play science center, and build a kick ass fort.
He told me "This is the greatest day, right now!"
That makes it all worth it, Little Man.

Guess who won in the end?

I feel like this cat gets me.
I learned two things this morning:
1. Cubby has super powers that enable his arm to reach anything on a table.
2. Throw rugs are called that because you will probably have to throw them away.
Cubby upended a bowl of soggy cereal all across the shaggy white rug in my room this morning. (Yes, I was eating cereal in bed. Don't judge me.)
And since Chris is away on a trip, I'm doing school prep solo. I had no time to deal with the mess as I chased and yelled at Bub to do the same routine we do every morning yet is a constant surprise to him each time.
So, the rug did get rinsed in the tub, while I grappled with Cubby who thought it was bathtime and kept trying to hurl himself headlong into the tub filled with cereal water. Said rug, most likely destroyed got hung over the banister in the garage.... Where I just learned it was dripping in to the kids shoe bucket. Washing sneakers now.
This is a sexy variation on my typical day staying at home with kids. Anyone want to sign my petition to get a government stipend for my rehab stay at Crazy Mama Ranch?

This munchkin has discovered his passion for lollipops. A few days ago, Bub got a lollipop after a serious bonk to the face. Cubby speed waddled over to his dad with his hand thrust upwards, beseechingly, terrified that he'd miss out on a lollipop, too. Today, he got three at the hair salon. Sticky blue drool and blond hair clippings meant immediate bath time when we got home.
And while I was getting dressed for bed, Cubby started giggling and stuck his finger into my bellybutton.
"BEE BOO! " Adorable and humiliating (for me).

This little man is a year and a half old! He's loving Gymboree, he's talking up a storm (first sentence, "No, no, not that.!"), playing with trains, reading books, and wrestling his brother or the cat.
