It's back-to-school week and tensions are running high! Cubby and Liam are both "new" and worried about how they fit in. We are WORKING the star sticker incentives program to the pain. My boys are cycling through "Green/Yellow/Red" zones. There were two school.meetings in the last 5 days. My head is spinning!
Hold your breath, everyone! Here we go!

Jake Apples had his first official day of preschool! He was so excited to brush his teeth! (They brush teeth at school. We don't tackle such business at home.)
Our Back-to-school ice cream social was a huge hit! Fun was had by all when after the sundaes were eaten, the snake hunt began! Liam saw bats and caught a bunch of slugs. Hoor-barf!

You can buy the matching Polo shirts, but you can't make them cooperate.
Cubby had soaking wet pants within a minute of getting to the location, Dylan was in a terrible mood, and Liam silly.
Still, I think I love so many of these shots!
They are a nice reminder of the crazy/fun vacation we had in Ogunquit.

It's so important to everyone that we have special time, just Mama and child. Today, Pickle and I had our turn. We lazed around in a gazebo overlooking the town beach, ate a banana and had some tea, giggled and played pat-a-cake and generally made everyone envious that they weren't us!
Edited: I managed a hat trick!
Cubby and I rode the trolley into Perkins Cove to eat ice cream. We watched the charter boats dock and load passengers. Cubby said, "I wanna be grown up!" Specifically so he could go on a sailboat.
Later, Liam and Pickle accompanied me to the hotel restaurant for a special dinner, just the 3 of us.

Dad, Mom, Liam, Jacob, and Dylan Dino went on a little summer trip to the ocean. What a happy group of dinosaurs! The 3 little Dino boys napped on the long car ride up to Maine. This greatly inflated Dad and Mom's egos and tricked them into thinking THIS IS GOING TO BE EASY!
No, no! Silly parents! It is just as impossible as ever but distilled into a much smaller space with fewer rules!
The Dino Family is having a great trip... really. There is fun and fighting each day but that's just life with little dinosaurs.
We have been to the beach, swam in the pool, (Pickle's first swim!) ate lobster while watching the waves, we've shopped for toys and minerals. We're looking forward to flying a kite, having some ice cream, and watching TV in the bedroom!

We visited a little pond near our house. Cubby threw 83 rocks into the water and Liam found a dead fish, oyster shells, feathers, and our new pet snail.
I couldn't convince the kids to get Slurpees afterwards. Even still, it was an idyllic visit.
Dylan missed out on the fun but looked precious getting in a nap.
This is why I got into the Mommy business: for the fun!
Jake Apples and I got a cool surprise when leaving camp today. We watched a tree get cut down with a chainsaw! AwwwwwwYeaaaaah!
I think that I may have been more excited about this display of lumberjackery than my child. Of course, I knew what to expect, and that expectation whizzed me back to my own childhood. I live to share a visceral experience like that with my kids. The full-body wracket of a chainsaw blocked out any other thoughts in my adult brain as I yelled to the backseat, "Watch the tree! Here it goes!" Little man smiled and was impressed but I am feeling very lucky today!

My sweet 7 year old may lose his top or talk back, but in the apology department, I really make out! Bub made my bed today while I was in the shower.
That's right, a shower and a tidy bedroom on the same day!

This morning may be the last nap in the swing. Lil Pickle is growing and changing so fast!
He is a moment away from being able to crawl. Last Friday, he figured out how to clap. And yesterday he started scooting and pivoting 360 degrees on his round little belly.
He is really enjoying his foods. This morning, he eagerly gobbled up pieces of nectarine and Cheerios.
