Adventures with Grandma Cookie

What a lucky boy! Bub spent some special time with Grandma Cookie. Look! It's a descendant of the dinosaurs!

Pop!

I can no longer get away with giving something to the big boys unless Pickle gets one, too. Lollipops and juice boxes are the hardest too sneak past him.

He can also reach things off the kitchen table by pulling on the placemats should he need to help himself. Imp!

Brothers

Dinner has to get prepared somehow, and not even TV can compete with wrestling brothers.

More treats for excellent boys

Cubby has been such a trooper about all of his appointments. This morning, we needed to deliver his registration material for his new preschool where he'll start in the fall. I told him that if he behaved that we'd get a treat afterwards.
"Is it the doctor's?" he asked.
No, little guy. Just an office building.
We found an ice cream stand that was actually open at 10 am and celebrated while Pickle napped in the shade. We went to the playground and those two had a great time on the bikes. Next time, I will have to remember shoes for the baby!

Spending his birthday loot!

Bub is a shopaholic like his mama. He has been waiting to spend his birthday money since before he even got it.
He picked out a massive Lego set of a police station and a dinosaur book.

Cubby wanted to buy a Hotwheels race track but I knew I would be the one to build it and that he would break it in an hour. I negotiated him down to a giant lollipop and a Lego figure. Blessedly, he still doesn't really notice that his brother pranced out of the toy store with a gigantic box.

Pickle was very happy with the cheesy poofs I kept dumping into his carriage seat.

Pickle tastes a lollipop!

Just because you haven't had your first haircut at 17 months doesn't mean you should miss out on lollipops!

Grape!

The tickle of Spring grass

I had a death grip on Pickle as he lunged into Cubby's bath.

Cubby's 1st IEP!

We are celebrating! Cubby has an IEP! And just as significantly, we think the teachers are pretty great!
It's a victory they cannot take away. He has been brought into the enveloping arms of special education.
This is the culmination of 9 months of pushing forms, evaluations, carefully worded emails, and doing the dance of charming this doctor while throwing not-so-veiled threats at that administrator. Oh, woe to those petty people.
Here's to our Cubby Bear!
P. S. I totally rocked it at the IEP meeting. Because I'm awesomely fierce and beguiling.

Our Lil Bub turns 8!

We've been having special Mama and Liam time at a hotel: swimming, playing arcade games, eating McDonald's and hot dogs, and watching loads of SpongeBob.

This morning, we sprung awake at our usual pre-dawn hour and started in on the first gift, a Lego set.

Curious George captivating Pickle

Waiting for his birthday

Look at that face!
He could hardly wait to raid the mailbox of cards and gifts.

Cubby's first piece of gum!

Today, Cubby looked so longingly at Liam's pack of gum that I caved and told him that he could have a piece.
"Don't swallow it!" I recalled the cough drop of late that had slid immediately down into his throat and then the request for another.
Cubby took this privilege very seriously.
He sat at the table and slowly put the cube into his mouth. Then, he covered his eyes with his hands and bowed his head low while he chewed.
He looked up after a minute, amazed!
"Just keep chewing and spit it out when.... Did you just swallow it?'
No more gum for Cubby for a while.

Making a bird nest

Liam was super astonished that his bird nest blew out of the tree! Perhaps, use fewer rocks next time, Bub.
